INFO FOR PARENTS AND TEACHERS
Fluent Math is suitable for students with basic understanding and strategies in place but who are not yet automatic, or for students in upper grades who don't know their facts well enough.
The app allows the student to go from their own strategies to automaticity in a unique way without time pressure. It combines two of the most efficient study techniques, active recall, and spaced repetition, with feedback and individual adaptation.
Read more about why the app works so well at https://fluentmath.com
VARIANTS
The app offers free division with numbers up to 7. Upgrade to premium for access to division with numbers up to 12. For a paid version (eg for VPP), search for "fluentmath". The app is also available as a free web app (without audio).
HOW IT WORKS
The entire table is reviewed in small rolling sets. Each student will progress at the right pace for them.
Known facts are quickly verified. For facts not automated yet, students will have time to think and use their own strategies without time pressure. Each fact is then practiced a couple of times in succession until it can either be pulled from memory or answered efficiently. Spaced repetition with active retrieval helps in committing them to long-term memory.
Learn, repeat, recall => automaticity.
LONG-TERM REPETITION
Since unused knowledge weakens, it is a good idea to review the tables annually. Consistent, long-term use of the app helps students of all ages with automaticity of the division tables.
RESEARCH
The solution has been inspired by research about active recall, spaced repetition, and interleaving.

This app contains Arithmetic Progression, but Addition, Multiplication, Division and Subtraction are available via IN-APP purchases..
For parents with children in Kindergarten or the First Grade, this is the product they could have only wished for up until now to help their children learn basic math on their own. This product, Arithmetic Progression, includes the following features and content:
-Ten independent subjects are presented on a scrolling menu. By default, the ten subjects are presented in progressive order. This app includes a feature in the Configurator that allows the administrator or user to shuffle the subjects.
-Each of the ten subjects is followed by ten questions.
-The first subject is Arithmetic Progression with a Common Difference of 1. The next nine subjects advance from Arithmetic Progression with a Common Difference of 2 to Arithmetic Progression with a Common Difference of 10.
-The user can select any one of the ten subjects from the scrolling menu.
-Immediately after selecting the desired subject, an on-screen timer begins the countdown. The available time for subject review and testing is user definable in the Configurator.
-Upon selection of the desired subject, an arithmetic progression table is presented that is relevant to that subject and the subsequent ten questions.
-An audio track plays automatically and explains to the student how to utilize the arithmetic progression table to correctly answer the subsequent ten questions.
-With a simple finger swipe gesture, the user can move to the test section. The user is presented with ten questions that relate directly to the subject matter. The questions appear progressively but can be shuffled with an option in the Configurator. The answers to the questions are always shuffled so that users cannot memorize answer patterns to use when taking successive tests.
-At any time, users can move freely from the active subject into the testing phase and back again, just as they could if they taking a paper test on subject matter.
-While testing, the user is notified with a warning that only thirty seconds remain.
-Upon submission of responses by user, a warning is issued to the user if there are questions left unanswered.
-When the user is ready or the time runs out, the test is automatically graded and the results posted at the top of the test. The test will show users the question responses they answered correctly and those answered incorrectly. The correct responses are given to questions that have not been answered correctly.
-In addition to the shuffle features stated above, this app also includes important features that parents and students will find quite useful. First, the timer can be set between 60 and 600 seconds. The number of test attempts is also user definable; with a minimum of one attempt and a maximum of five attempts.
-Basic test result information is conveniently presented on the scrolling subject menu. Users can also view their average score on the bottom tool bar.
-This application also accommodates a Multi-Player Game mode.
-A Progress Report can be accessed with a simple 90 degree turn of the device. The Progress Report view contains detailed test result information that students will find useful. If students are using this app in Multi-Player Game mode, comparative test results are presented.
-Upon completion of all subjects, users will be presented with an option to select an “I’m Done Testing” button and upon its selection, the Progress Report becomes a Certificate of Completion.
-The test results can be e-mailed to a recipient established by the administrator in the Configurator. Hence, students can effortlessly send their test results to their friends, parents, or teachers. This feature includes a user definable e-mail tag that will appear in the e-mail subject line.
-This application accommodates up to six users who each can maintain their own set of test results and configuration settings.
