The region comprises of two towns of Blackall and Tambo which lie along the historic Barcoo River on the Landsborough Highway. The region covers an area of 30,502 sq kms and has some of the richest pastoral lands in the State. The Blackall-Tambo region has an extensive history of cattle, sheep, and wool production. Australia's famous shearer, Jackie Howe lived and worked in our area. Visiting our area offers the opportunity to learn about the history of our communities through a range of attractions including the Blackall Woolscour, the Beyond the Black Stump display, Tambo Heritage precinct and other historical and cultural sites. The Blackall Artesian Pool and Spa allows visitors to experience the therapeutic benefits of artesian water and is a great place to rest and relax. Our region is also known for its connection to the Arts which can be experienced at Tambo's Grassland Art Gallery, Blackall's Bushmans Gallery or with a tour around Blackall's outdoor sculpture trail.
