According to IATA Resolution 753, airlines must track baggage at key points in the baggage journey including “Return to the passenger”. Traditionally when lost or delayed baggage is found or arrives to the destination airport, it is sent out for delivery via a contracted courier service. The airline loses visibility on the baggage from the time it is picked up until it is delivered to the passenger.
