DRIVE Electric for Tesla is a smartwatch app for Wear OS that combines NFC, Bluetooth and internet* access to communicate with the vehicle. This turns your watch into a fast and reliable key without having to carry the phone around. * ANNOUNCEMENT Tesla's recent announcement that it will charge developers for access to the Fleet API starting in February 2025 may result in the loss of remote access going forward. The app will move away from using billable commands in the web-based Fleet API and instead use the free NFC or Bluetooth API. For older Tesla models without the BLE hardware, this means the app may lose the ability to communicate with the car. When the new billing policy will take effect is currently unknown and will depend on Tesla's technical solutions for charging in the developer's home country. For now, the app will therefore function as before, but the change may apply without further notice. Tokens from the phone app are stored locally in the encrypted key manager provided by the watch OS. If you choose to save your password for the Remote Start feature, you do so at your own risk.
