Rhode Tour vs Road to Freedom TN Utilisation & Stats
Rhode Tour places the heritage and culture of Rhode Island at your fingertips with this free Smartphone app. Known as the “Ocean State,” Rhode Island is filled with interesting stories, captivating places, and intriguing people from coast to coast. With a growing list of interpretive stories, each point on the interactive GPS-enabled map includes historical information about the location, along with historic images and media from archival collections and historical publications. The information on the app may also be accessed by visiting the project website at rhodetour.org. Rhode Tour is brought to you by the John Nicholas Brown Center for Public Humanities and Cultural Heritage and the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities.

The Road to Freedom: Tennessee encourages visitors and Tennesseans alike to uncover histories of African American contributions, agency, and sacrifice in the cause of freedom during the broadly defined Civil War-era (1830-1890). It unleashes the power of both perspective and place and introduces historical figures that have been given little voice until now. This application allows you to interact with these stories in various ways. You can explore Road to Freedom sites at large or investigate the state’s history through tour collections for particular Tennessee cities and themes.
Made possible through a grant from the Tennessee Wars Commission, by way of the Tennessee Historical Commission, the American Battlefield Trust’s Road to Freedom TN application will serve as a supplemental resource to the upcoming printed Road to Freedom TN map and brochure. Collaborative in its creation, the initiative was supported by the efforts of Civil War Trails and the African American Heritage Preservation Foundation.
