iM Guide vs HKGeology Utilisation & Stats
“iM Guide” is a museum mobile multimedia guide platform. Visitors can have a deeper understanding on exhibits through text, audio, video and multimedia contents. Indoor navigation technique and outdoor Global Positioning System (GPS) provide locations of exhibits and facilities, such as toilets and baby care room, and navigation service. The “iM Guide” is at this stage applied to the Hong Kong Science Museum, the Hong Kong Space Museum, Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum, the Hong Kong Museum of the War of Resistance and Coastal Defence, the Hong Kong Railway Museum as well as the navigation and introduction of 16 spots along the Dr Sun Yat-sen Historical Trail. It will provide services to various museums of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department in future.

The HKGeology gives a simplified account of the geology of Hong Kong and is a useful reference tool in field, which will help teachers, students, members of the public and geotechnical practitioners.
The application includes an interactive geological map and the description of major rock types and geological features that could be found in different parts of Hong Kong. You can locate yourself and find out the types of rock that you are standing on. The contents in this mobile application are based on the geology book “Hong Kong Geology – A 400 Million Journey” and a complete version can be found in the website of the Civil Engineering and Development Department of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
The geological map of Hong Kong given in this application is based on the HGM100 series at a scale of 1:100 000 published by the Hong Kong Geological Survey. The digital topographic map is published by the Survey and Mapping Office of the Lands Department.
