The PUK: If you enter your PIN incorrectly three times, your ID card PIN is blocked. With the AUTHADA app, you can unlock your ID card PIN using the "Unlock PIN" function and your PUK. You can test whether the eID function is activated for your ID card with the AUTHADA app. To do this, select "self-disclosure" in the menu. If the eID function is not activated for your ID card, you will receive a notification when using the AUTHADA app. The NFC-enabled smartphone To use the AUTHADA app, you need an NFC-enabled smartphone. Most Android smartphones have an NFC interface and can thus read the German identity card, the residence permit and the eID card for EU citizens. The installed AUTHADA app Once you have installed the AUTHADA app, you can use it to identify yourself to your service provider. To do this, open the website of your service provider and enter the displayed ident code into the AUTHADA app or scan the QR code with the AUTHADA app. Then follow the instructions in the app. You will need to hold your ID card up to the smartphone during the identification process and enter the ID card PIN into the app when requested. To complete the process, enter the TAN generated in the app on the service provider's website.
