When they were just 3 years old, I started giving them opportunities to earn "coins" by doing chores around the house. In our home, setting the table earned 1 coin, and loading the washing machine was worth 2 coins. My kids would then spend their earned coins on things they wanted (except candy!). This system helped them learn important lessons about income, expenses, savings, and the value of hard work. To manage chores and rewards, we initially used pen and paper, whiteboards, and various tally apps. While these options worked to some extent, they often lacked the ease and flexibility we needed.
