SignLexicon vs Swing 2.0 Uso & Estadísticas
SignLexicon is a comparative dictionary between Italian Sign Language (LIS) and American Sign Language (ASL). It has been developed as a teaching aid within the LILS project to experiment Italy's first bachelor's degree for Sign Language International Mediators.
The project has been co-funded by the Italian Ministry for Universities and it is led by a partnership of the University of Parma (project leader), OSSMED Ets (coordinator) and SSML San Domenico University College in Fermo (executor).
SignLexicon 1.0 includes around 3,200 entries: 800 LIS signs and their written Italian equivalent, and 800 ASL signs with their written English equivalent.
This freeware is available on the main operating systems for smartphones and tablets. The users can either watch one sign language video at a time or both simultaneously by using both windows side by side. This will help them immediately notice the differences between LIS and ASL. They can also choose to use an alphabetic search in Italian or English. SignLexicon 1.0 will be followed by an updated and expanded version in the near future.
