We used to go to the park with her every evening, and she would frequently be upset when it was time to leave, sometimes even throwing tantrums. We decided to create a goal for her: if she came back to the car when told, every day, for one week, she would earn a toy. And if she missed a day, she can make it up the next day. Surprisingly, that worked! Even though she could not help herself 2 out of 7 days, she did not get discouraged and finished her goal in 9 days. And in 3 weeks the problem was solved completely. So we created a method that works all the time. In sport it is called "Skills Clinic". Instead of printing traditional chore chart, this app take a bit different approach. The idea is very simple: you pick a few skills for the child to master and set a reward. For example, the child needs to: - 7 times brush the teeth - 7 times get in the car when told - 5 times finish breakfast within 15 minutes And the reward for this is a toy which you can select together. Note that this method does not have "every day" component. Just do it 7 times. Did not do it today? No problem! "I am sure you will succeed tomorrow! Just try a bit harder. And remember, the Teddy Bear is waiting for you!" - typical conversation for the first few charts. Little Orc app allows you to conveniently select a picture of the toy you choose, define tasks, and print the chart right from the app. Once the chart is on the wall, it provides great visual indication of the goal and the progress. Please remember to provide positive reinforcement to help support your child as they work towards their goal. If one day they did not get out of bed on time, show compassion!
