NRP (Then known as NALS) is skill-based with hands - on training program. It is a popular and interactive continuing medical education (CME) program and acted as a catalyst for launching other programmes for the care of mothers and their children in India. The successful implementation of this programme by the motivated NNF faculty had led to its association with the implementation of the newborn component of Child Survival and Safe Motherhood (CSSM) programme (1992–1997). In 2010 new resuscitation guidelines proposed certain major changes like recommendation on delivery room oxygen saturation monitoring, CPAP etc. this has leads to a nationwide debate whether it was possible to use these guidelines in Indian setting? Taking the leads, NNF constituted a Technical committee with an objective to formulate guidelines for India which suit for our country in terms of infrastructure & manpower. The team of national expert were requested to formulate a resuscitation programme which is evidence based and easy to understand both by doctors as well as nursing personnel. NNF published these guideline in the first edition of Text book on “Neonatal Resuscitation: India” in November 2013. For the purpose of simplicity and to facilitate implementation with in the national neonatal health care programme, the guideline have been adopted for two level- Basic and Advanced. Basic newborn resuscitation skills which includes initial steps and assisted ventilation using bag & mask ventilation is been provided to all health care provider through Navjat Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (NSSK) Programme which was launched by GOI. Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation includes basic as well as additional skills of assisted ventilation, intubation, medication and chest compression of term and preterm new born. Later in 2014 this programme to be incorporated in the “Facility Based New Born Care (FBNC) by the MOH & FW, Government of India. Second & Third edition of Text book on “Neonatal Resuscitation: India” was published in due course of time. With technological advancement, NNF is moving towards realisation of “Digital India”. E-Book of the 4th edition of “Neonatal Resuscitation: India” and NRP: India APP was unveiled during “Cardiopulmonary Venticon 2019” at Bangalore by NNF President Dr. V.P. Goswami and Secretary Dr Lalan Bharti. This coincided with the launch of ENRI app developed by Dr. Satish Deopujari, with incorporation of this interactive NRI app with the teaching module,it has become the world's first digital NRP module for training and teaching neonatal resuscitation. India envisions a health system that eliminates preventable deaths of newborns and stillbirths. The India Newborn Action Plan (INAP) is India‟s committed response to the Global Every Newborn Action Plan (ENAP), launched in June 2014 that India will achieve the target of Single Digit Neonatal Mortality Rate (NMR) & Single Digit Still birth Rate (SBR) by 2030. The INAP is expected to serve as a roadmap in years to come to prevent birth asphyxia induced neonatal mortality by improving care around birth practices especially training of all health care worker involved in neonatal & perinatal health care.   Almost three decades have passed since this programme was launched in India. It has provided a uniform, systematic and action-oriented approach to the resuscitation of the newborn. This has been possible due to the involvement of the national faculty on neonatal resuscitation with support from the leadership of the NNF. We need committed individuals, who are ready to carry the torch further and to keep this movement alive. Our goal is to train each and every individual who attends a delivery, whether at home or hospital, and meet the objectives of the slogan „Give a breath, save a life‟!
