Over 40 years ago, I patented a wall-mounted, electronic device that offered a calm digitized voice leading trained rescuers through CPR to standards established by the American Heart Association. An investment group purchased rights to the electronic CPRPrompt with a plan of converting the commercial model into a less expensive consumer product. The investment group was unsuccessful and CPR voice prompting has remained dormant for decades. As I lay in bed at Baystate Health recovering from the heart attack, I dreamed that I could create a mobile phone app and put instant-prompting in the hand of every CPR trained rescuer.
