Atalanta Women addresses the underrepresentation of women throughout history and in the media today. The app utilizes a tab bar structure to make navigating unique historical content seamless and engaging. The Today Tab showcases a women’s achievement each day of the year that veritably happened on that day. The Search Tab allows you to search the approximately 370 women included in the app, and browse the different categories: Art, Literature, Sports, Science, Politics, and Other. Save your favorite stories in the Favorites Tab and read about the creation of the app and how it got its name in the About Tab. If you search “women” on the app store the results vary between clothing apps, fitness planners, and period trackers. You have to search “women empowerment” to get anything substantial and even then the results are slim. Atalanta Women addresses the under-representation of women throughout history, and the failure to fully recognize many of the amazing women alive today. Hundreds of women are completely ignored in our history books when their contributions were at minimum equal to the many men these books showcase. Young girls and women lack female role models, especially historical ones, and there are so many amazing women in history who go unrecognized and undervalued. Download Atalanta women to learn about the women whom the history books glossed over, and feel empowered to achieve just as they did. This app was created as a Girl Scout Gold Award project, a sustainable service project that addresses an issue in a girl's community.
