Brainy Skills Pronouns app is designed to help children and young adults work on various forms of all types of pronouns in a variety of sentences. The interactive format creates a challenging yet fun atmosphere to review grammatical rules that dictate which pronoun to use. This app is unique because it's comprehensive with all types of pronouns. The questions require users to identify the pronoun in each sentence. In the bonus questions the users must first recognize what words can be replaced by a pronoun and then choose the correct pronoun from the list.
This app was created, developed and written by a certified Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) along with a former teacher who have years of hands on experience in a variety of settings from daycares, schools, and preschools. After working with younger and older school age children, both typically developing and special needs children, the struggles were obvious. There was a great need for a simple, unique, motivating, fun and exciting way to help improve these skills. There is a need to combine learning with fun in order to improve and increase motivation when these language concepts. This app can also be used for practicing reading, grammar, and overall comprehension skills for middle and high school special needs students and those looking for remedial practice. Teachers, tutors, parents, and caregivers can use their own creative motivators to encourage their students to complete each level to achieve their name on the leaderboard after the final level. This app takes the place of basic worksheets normally used for practice.
Students can play on their own or with a caretaker, assistant, or therapist to guide them along and practice basic oral reading skills. Teachers can use this app in the classroom weekly to have competitions with their students. There are also Brainy Bonuses that at times are tricky and review the core material. The bonuses differ in complexity, and offer an opportunity to earn more points. Some bonus questions require more thought to figure out what can be replaced by a pronoun. Questions include all types of pronouns including:
